In this introductory unit, we will explore two
of the basic investigative strategies of geography –
map pattern description and map overlaying.
We will learn how to do these map skills
by applying them to several important maps.
The examples in these chapters focus
on geographic patterns that are worth
“adding to your mental map of the world.”
